Letterpress: Before the age of computers and modern printing techniques the world relied on the letterpress for all kinds of publications and is considered by many to be one of the most important inventions of all time.
Letterpress printing uses metal or wooden moveable type which is inked by hand or by the press, before paper or fabric is pressed on a printing press into it, to create a beautiful impression.
Today, letterpress is predominantly being used to create art, stationery and gifts; and its popularity is increasing due to the charm and individuality that can be achieved.
Tutor: Lisa Harman of Indiepop Press
Workshop: This workshop will put a delightful smile on any childs face as they get to choose their word, assemble the wooden type, ink and reveal their creations.
The workshop will include a very basic introduction to what letterpress is, we will show the children what letterpress can be used for and then have a lot of fun making their own posters.
